1975 and 1976 Autoslalom (Autocross)

With my Simca Rally II

This little French Car was a very good slalom car. It was not only once that I did the faster times than Porsche Carreras and Renault Alpine. Here are the spec's as far I can remember:
Rear Enginge

4 cylinder, 1.3 L, 84HP
4 doors
4 speed
4 disc breaks
(that was 1976)
Wheels:
Steel wheels 4.5 X 13
Tires 145/ HR13

The car was original equiped with Michelin Formula France (FF) tires which had a special soft compound and were very good tires for slalom. I remember the first set I had to replace with 1,100 km on it. To make sure I could use the tires for the rest of the year for Autoslalom, I had a set of wheel with normal HR tires for the street. Yes I had to have HR tires, because that thing made almost 190km/h on the Autobahn!!

Here my best results from 1976, I had with this car in the 1300ccm Class:
1st Place 5
2nd Place 11
3rd Place 7
Simca Trophy 3
2nd FTD 1

The average number of cars in this class was 10 cars, but I remember one event with over 40 cars, and 35 were Simca Rally II. I finished 5th

Bergrennen (Hillclimb)

1980 and 1981 I did Hillclimb Racing with a Ford Fiesta 1.1L

The car was prepaired in stock class up to 1150 ccm, and had about 90HP

The following modifications were done to the car:

Exhaust header

2 Solex dual carborater

Engine and transmision lowered

Hewland gear

Gear ratio

Limited slip differential

Larger front brakes

Adjustable front struts (Koni)

Koni shocks, rear

Sway bars

Aluminum roll cage

2 sets 6 X 13 Alu wheels

175/50/13 Pirreli Corsa Slicks

H&M wet race tires

Hockenheim 1978

1978 I did the "End of season race" at Hockenheim.

This race was a lot of fun, because the cars are sorted out for the classes by weight/horspower.

I raced against all different kind of cars, like VW Scirocco, BMW 2002Tii, Renault R5 Alpine, Opel Manta, Renault Alpine 1600, etc.

I was able to finish with a 3rd place out of over 20 cars.

This racing was with normal street cars and on street tires.
